How to Save on Clothes ...

Hey ya'll, the mad sales of the summer season is here again, but this time, in close tie with the ongoing global economic recession. Here are some few tips that could help you in making correct decisions before you go shopping for sales:

Don't buy in season

Don't buy cold weather clothing when they first get to the store around August. Wait a few months and buy them in the fall. By then prices have been reduced. One quick note on this though: You might not want to wait too long to buy pre-schooler's clothers, or the items you want may be sold out.

Buy big - and bigger
If you find a real bargain, buy it in two sizes: one that will fit your child now and one that will fit your child a year from now. A word of caution: If you do buy clothes in advance, take into consideration that kids have growing spurts and could outgrow clothes before they ever even wear them.
For babies and toddlers you can buy a size too big, and roll up sleeves or pantlegs depending on the clothes you buy.

Bargain
If you find an outfit in a boutique (such as Tehilla's Place®)that you really want, ask for a price reduction. You could get a discount of up to 20 percent. If that doesn't work, try to find the item in an outlet store if the manufacturer has one.

Factory Sales
Some factory sales offer savings of 50 to 90 percent off garments' original prices. I have found items originally priced at $180 for $30.

Smart Shopping
Be sure you are purchasing the right size clothes. How many times did you intend to take a piece of clothing back, but kept forgetting, and forgetting, and ...

Discount Stores
Stores like Marshalls and Ross carry department store merchandise, but slash up to 50% off retail prices. You can also find big savings at big retailers like Kmart, Target, Sears, Tehilla's Place®, etc.

Buy Quality
Buying clothes that are not of good quality are usually not a good deal even if they are priced well.

Garage Sales
You can save a lot at garage sales. Only buy clothes that are still in good shape though. Try to find garage sales that are put together by several families, you'll have a better chance to find good clothes that way. I've bought pants for 50 cents that were practically new. Kids grow out of their clothes faster than they can wear them out and if you find a garage sale by a family who've only used the clothes for one child it's like buying new. Please resist the temptation of buying just because of the price though, you don't want to end up buying clothes that aren't in top shape.

Happy shopping!
